UT Tyler Cowan Center

The Braitwaite Recital Hall is an important component of the Cowan Center on the campus of the University of Texas at Tyler. The entrance development of the recital hall was to bring interest to the hall, as well as be a unique development on the campus. This was accomplished by the design and installation of two fountains with totally different characters.

The first fountain's design is a traditional spray fountain that provides a place to sit and enjoy the view of the campus and the clock tower. The second fountain is a cascading fountain along the main entrance walkway to the recital hall. The cascading fountain is surrounded by landscape beds and stone benches that provide a location to sit and meditate on the gentle noise of the falling water.

Adjacent to the second fountain is a garden area with stone benches that also provides a view of the cascading water. This site development clearly establishes a more relaxed and meditative ambiance when going to the hall for a recital or for practice.
